The Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV (quattrovalvove) "Downdraft" specification is a legend in collecting circles. One of the final iterations of the model, and the most powerful Countach variant produced, the rare and dignified Downdraft enjoys the highest horsepower rating of any Countach, approaching 555bhp. Only 300 of these incredibly special models were built, easily recognizable from the "power dome" on the rear decklid, designed to house the 6 Weber 44 DCNF carburetors which give the iconic model its name.
The present stunning example, FLA12877, was completed by the Lamborghini factory in Sant'agata in 1986, finished in Nero Tenebre (black) exterior with Nero (black) leather interior, and eventually made its way to the United States, where it was with its prior owner until 2021. From 2011 to 2021, it was subjected to a "no expense spared" concours restoration by marque specialists who are renowned for their expertise with this model, garnering multiple first of show accolades from prominent concours.
FLA12877 had traveled less than 25,000 kilometers before the restoration began, and as can be seen from historical photos, it was a very well-taken care of, rust-free, running, numbers-matching, unmolested, fully operational vehicle. However, the owner, a perfectionist, wanted 12877 restored to the highest level, and began the long and costly journey, resulting in an example which is just at home on the show field as it is on a mountain pass or desert traverse. Used sparingly since the restoration was completed in 2021, at a total cost of over $800,000.00 USD, this vehicle now shows 33,090 km traveled and has been displayed at The Quail as well as several local events and drives throughout the U.S.
Resplendent in its original Euro specification with small square side markers, Euro bumpers and valance, 12877 comes with two sets of wheels-one set in gold and one set in silver. It also comes with two decklids-one with a wing attached, and one without wing. Thus, the new owner can enjoy this Downdraft in several forms, whether it be silver wheels with no wing, gold wheels with wing, or any other combination thereof.
